Product Description

Introduction

The automatic formaldehyde emission climate chamber allows for the automatic, timed sampling of formaldehyde emissions from board samples placed inside the environmental chamber, without manual intervention. After sampling is complete, simply remove the sample bottles for further chemical analysis. (The key feature is that external samplers are no longer needed; the sampling process is integrated into the system.)

This equipment is primarily used for the determination of free formaldehyde in consumer products such as wood products, furniture, flooring, carpets, footwear, and building and decoration materials.

Standard-sized test specimens are placed in a test chamber where temperature, humidity, airflow velocity, and air exchange rate are controlled at specific values. Formaldehyde is released from the specimens and mixes with the air in the chamber. Air is periodically drawn from the chamber and passed through a gas washing bottle containing water to determine the concentration of formaldehyde absorbed in the water. The formaldehyde concentration in the test chamber air is calculated from the formaldehyde concentration in the gas washing bottle and the volume of air drawn, expressed in milligrams per cubic meter (mg/m³). Sampling is performed periodically until the formaldehyde concentration in the test chamber reaches equilibrium.
